Care and Maintenance
Cloth pads can be washed easily by hand or in the washing machine. The secret is first soaking the pads in cold water for 30 minutes before washing in up to a maximum of 40 degrees. Most of the blood comes out in the initial soaking process. After that, it’s just like washing your clothes.
Product life, The PUL will last approx. 75 - 100 washes, or 3 -5 years, depending on how frequently a pad is used and how well it is cared for.
Ecofemme are not just another company, run by women in Auroville, India they are a true social enterprise dedicated to demonstrating how business and social responsibility really can go hand in hand. In addition to producing and and selling washable cloth pads, they provide menstrual health education to economically disadvantaged women and children across India and provide them with free products directly through the Pad to Pad Scheme.
Pad for Pad Scheme
For every Ecofemme washable cloth pad sold Internationally, a pad is donated to a girl in rural India as part of their Pad for Pad program. Included already in the price is 95 INR (approx euro 1.20) per pad. This donation money provides education sessions and enables girls to ask questions and learn about their bodies with dignity in places where often mensuration is still a taboo subject and also provides a starter kit for free.
