The brother and sister combo behind Klean Kanteen started the company when it was difficult to find a non-plastic reusable bottle in the USA. Since then their company has grown to be one of the most widely known bottles in the world but they have retained their ethics and values which is why we think they are one of the best options available.
Run from their headquarters in Califonia they are a certified B Corp business, which means they are part of a movement of more than 3,000 global companies that meet high standards of social and environmental transparency, accountability, and performance. Klean Kanteen has completed this rigorous three-step process and is now 100% carbon neutral in the manufacture and delivery of all their products our products. In 2017, they installed 216 high-efficiency solar panels at our corporate headquarters which now supplies 100% of the building’s electricity. They donate 1% of our gross sales through 1% for the Planet. To date, they have given away more than 3.4 million dollars in unrestricted funds to nonprofits working on climate change and related environmental issues.
Versatility in design (multiple cap options for all bottles) means that you can buy fewer bottles, which is better for your wallet and the planet. The bottles are manufactured 'responsibly' in China - although this is sometimes an overused phrase further research shows that this is the case with third party assessments and regular checks being made on their factories and working conditions. They use recycled stainless in their production chain, essentially they build bottles that are meant to last you a lifetime. Additionally, Klean Kanteen staff is given 24 hours of volunteer time annually to support diverse nonprofits in our community.
